COP 28 was the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at the end of 2023. The main theme of this years conference was to transition away from fossil fuels to help reduce our green house gas emissions and to lessen the effects of climate change that we’re seeing. This was an eye opening experience to see global leaders get together and work together to promote plans to become more environmentally sustainable. Some key take aways that were found were increased pledges to renewable & green energy such as: solar, wind, and nuclear. Other take aways include creating green shipping corridors, reducing methane, as well as creating a loss and damage fund to help vulnerable countries with the effects of climate change and helping them transition to more green energy. As a group we worked together to address the key take issues for COP 28 and presented these as both a power point presentation, as well as by producing an executive summary on these points. I look forward to continuing to keep up to date with the promises and programs stated from COP28 and what those may hold for our future.
